Run by NYC Parks, Rockaway Beach in Queens is a vibrant, year-round destination for residents across the Rockaway peninsula, drawing millions of visitors each summer between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Known for its expansive shoreline, lively boardwalk, and diverse community, it remains one of New York City’s most dynamic coastal resources and its only legal surfing beach. Rockaway Beach is also home to a variety of playgrounds and other outdoor activities.
Between Tides is Public Art Fund’s first exhibition at Rockaway Beach, located at Beach 67.

During beach season, lifeguards are on duty daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swimming is prohibited when lifeguards are not on duty and in closed sections. Closed sections are marked with signs and/or red flags.
