About the Exhibition

Arnold B. Glimcher from Pace Gallery refers to Carmen, a moving stabile by Alexander Calder (1898–1976, b. Lawnton, PA), as filling its site, Doris C. Freedman Plaza, “with humor and joy and . . . a welcome image for the park.” The top part moves in the wind and the petallike forms are white, red, and yellow.
