Sand and Paddle Classic

Saturday, August 22
5:30-7:30pm
Beach 67, Rockaway Beach
Schenck PAF Between Tides 2026 06 25 DSC 4994

The Sand & Paddle Classic is a one-of-a-kind ping-pong tournament presented as part of Between Tides, Public Art Fund’s summer exhibition of artist-designed playable sculptures installed directly on the sand at Beach 67 in Rockaway Beach.

Open to players of all levels, the event unfolds across six unique ping-pong tables created by contemporary artists, each offering a different playing experience. Whether testing their skills in a multiplayer game or trying to return a serve from a professional player, participants will rotate between the sculptures, adapting to unconventional surfaces that challenge precision, improvisation, and expectations.

Part competition, part public artwork, the Sand & Paddle Classic celebrates creativity, community, and the joy of play in one of New York City’s most extraordinary outdoor settings.

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

Free and open to all. Registration not required. Paddles and balls will be provided.
