About the Exhibition

Art Cart is a traveling exhibition and mobile performance. Stewart Wilson (b. 1952, Durham, NC) designed a vendor cart to exhibit small works of art and use as a stage for puppet and street theater. Pushed anywhere in New York City, it brings art to New Yorkers in a personal, direct way. Art Cart provides an opportunity for the public to interact with artists as art is extended to the streets.

Because of its modular design, Art Cart can be easily converted into a mini-stage. Performers, puppets, and minstrels entertain young and old alike, visiting hospitals, schools, and senior centers; audience participation is a major interest.
