Reroute for Art: a small detour for a dose of inspiration
New season, new routes! Reroute for art this summer and visit free public art projects around the city on your commute, during your lunch break, while visiting a new neighborhood, or as part of a city adventure. Whether it’s stopping by Central Park to visit Edra Soto: Graft during your lunch break, enjoying a summer picnic next to Torkwase Dyson: Akua in Brooklyn Bridge Park or arriving to LaGuardia Airport a little early to experience Sarah Sze: Shorter than the Day, a few minutes can result in meaningful and serendipitous artistic encounters.

Art-Filled Itineraries: LaGuardia Airport Terminal B

LaGuardia Airport Terminal B
Traveling this summer? Take an art break at LaGuardia Terminal B! As you make your way through the Connector, glimpse the expansive and kaleidoscopic glass facades of Sabine Hornig’s La Guardia Vistas. Do you have some time before your flight? Stroll through the Departures Hall and look up to experience Sarah Sze’s Shorter than the Day or the mosaic mural of Laura Owens’ I🍕NY. Once you pass security, grab a coffee or treat and take a seat before your flight at the sculptural social benches in Jeppe Hein’s All Your Wishes.
Art-Filled Itineraries: Torkwase Dyson: Akua

Surrounded by grand waterways and architectural landmarks, Akua invites audiences into a space of contemplation and imagination, grounded in the landscape beneath and encircling us. Need a break from the heat? From Brooklyn Bridge Park, take a quick stroll to Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and grab a scoop of their summer selections. Complete your art-filled day with a visit to A.I.R. Gallery and a carousel ride at Jane’s Carousel.
