About the Exhibition

Robert Ressler’s Mantis, installed at Riverside Park, is made of a series of carved wooden forms that are bolted together to create a large praying mantis, sized 12’ x 18’. The weight of the sculpture is approximately 3,000 pounds. Ressler (New York City, NY) explains, “Mantis is intended as an antidote; a respite from urban turmoil; a whimsical metaphor which comments on violence without anger or blame.”
