Ai Weiwei’s citywide installation, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors, presented by Public Art Fund, comprises a passionate response to the global migration crisis and a reflection on the profound social and political impulse to divide people from each other. Join us for Good Dialogue (Actually) Makes Good Neighbors, a two part program: beginning with walking tour from 5:00-6:00 pm of the exhibition’s downtown installations, followed by a panel discussion from 6:30 – 7:30 pm at the Museum of the Chinese in America.The panel will consider the exhibition’s themes of historic and contemporary immigration in the context of New York City’s Chinese immigrant communities and will include Bitta Mostofi, Acting Commissioner, Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs; Daniel S. Palmer, Associate Curator, Public Art Fund; Dingding Hu, NYC-based Artist; moderated by Nancy Yao Maasbach, President, Museum of Chinese in America. The walking tour will meet at the Washington Square Arch and will end at the Museum of Chinese in America (215 Centre Street). Interpretation of the walking tour will be provided in Mandarin, and interpretation of the panel discussion will be provided in Mandarin, and Cantonese.
