Marking the revitalization of Madison Square Park, Target Art in the Park--a three-year series of contemporary art exhibitions--kicked off its second summer season in New York with major installations by international artists Teresita Fernández, Navin Rawanchaikul, and Tobias Rehberger.

Tobias Rehberger's Tsutsumu N.Y. was a scenic Japanese garden that merged landscape, art, and an unnatural weather pattern to create a surprising installation. A bench set next to a rock and tree formed a Japanese garden, with snow falling mysteriously on the serene area. Amidst melting snow, park visitors sat within Tsutsumu N.Y.'s utopian setting, where the temperature was cool after each day's summertime snowstorm. Rehberger's unusual version of a traditional rock garden provided an intimate public space different from the local plants and trees.
