Fall 1999 Schedule

Ann Hamilton
Selected to represent the United States at the 1999 Venice Biennale, Ann Hamilton is recognized internationally for her multidisciplinary artworks involving installation, video, sound, and photography. She is perhaps best known for her installations featuring massive amounts materials such as honey, horsehair, birds, books, shirts, bones, and soot.

When: Tuesday, September 28

Pipilotti Rist
A sensual mix of pop music video and super-saturated film, Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist's work presents luxurious worlds that entice with their lush imagery and sound, while implying a feminist agenda, and ambiguous pitfalls underlying her utopias. Overlaid images, which flow from one vision to the next, create an immersive effect of which Rist takes full advantage, welcoming viewers into her world of captivating stimuli.

Matthew Barney
Matthew Barney has become well known for his mythological characters and elliptical narratives in the Cremaster film series, in addition to his installation and photographic work. In a seamless combination of compelling drama, intriguing players, rich scenery and mysterious story lines, Barney's films occupy a startling position between raw physicality and deep psychology.
